Planning & Heritage
It is important that planning legislation allows for appropriate development, while also ensuring that Aboriginal cultural heritage is considered through the strategic planning and development assessment processes. Important too is that the planning system recognises the economic potential of land owned by the Aboriginal community. The Government has recognised that current Aboriginal cultural heritage legislation needs improvement, and a major reform process is underway. Aboriginal people must play a significant role in the management of their cultural heritage, and in the planning of their land.
