The NSW Government will consult with Aboriginal communities across NSW on the Closing the Gap Priority Reforms during April and May 2021.
Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Don Harwin said the NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peaks (NSW CAPO) will run open community consultations with Aboriginal communities and provide input on implementing the five priority reforms in NSW.
“We welcome Aboriginal communities across NSW to offer insight and advice on the roll out of the priority reforms, which were identified in 2019. These consultations will help communities to voice their view on actions that will deliver real change to people’s lives,” Mr Harwin said.
NSW CAPO Chairperson Charles Lynch said the NSW Government’s partnership with the NSW CAPO strengthens delivery on the National Agreement to achieve Closing the Gap.
“NSW CAPO is pleased with our partnership with the NSW Government and we look forward to walking this Closing the Gap journey together,” Mr Lynch said.
The five priority reforms proposed by Aboriginal people are supported by the NSW Government with Aboriginal Affairs NSW taking a lead in coordinating the whole-of-government change that is required.
There will be face-to-face consultation sessions held across NSW, as well as online opportunities to input if you can’t get to one of these sessions. The locations are listed here:
