NSW Ombudsman delivers report on OCHRE

29-October-2019

On 28 October 2019, the NSW Ombudsman tabled the OCHRE Review Report in the NSW Parliament. The report is available here.

The findings from the Ombudsman’s report will provide further information about what the NSW Government can do to strengthen its current approach to working with Aboriginal communities across NSW. The report adds to the significant body of evidence that Aboriginal Affairs NSW has published over the last 5 years through our innovative research and evaluation program. The first independent evaluation of OCHRE was published in 2018 and found that “OCHRE has been remarkably successful” and “is addressing important outcomes for Aboriginal communities”. The findings from the first 3 years of evaluation can be found here.

The Ombudsman’s report and the published evidence demonstrates that the Government’s unwavering commitment to co-designing policy solutions with Aboriginal people has been OCHRE’s greatest strength and success. This evidence will be used to drive a policy refresh in 2020 to make OCHRE stronger.
