COVID-19 Aboriginal Community Organisations Grants

We would like to thank everyone for the significant efforts people put into their applications for the one-off COVID-19 Aboriginal Community Organisations Grants Program.  The success of this grant was reflected in the high level of interest and highly competitive applications received.

Results of the COVID-19 ACO Grant

The successful applicants were announced by Minister Harwin on (insert date).

The successful ACOs were granted up to $50,000 where they demonstrated how their project aims would contribute to the COVID-19 recovery priorities:

  • A greater need for IT Infrastructure
  • Local food security initiatives
  • More opportunities for healing and wellbeing
  • Building the resources and programs of Aboriginal community organisations
  • New jobs and employment opportunities

A total of $1,401,879 in funding was allocated to 38 Aboriginal Community Organisations from across NSW - $1.3m funded by the 20-21 stimulus funding, and a further $100,00 funded by AANSW. This Aboriginal Community Organisations will implement their projects over the coming 12 months to build the services and programs available to their local Aboriginal communities.

About the COVID-19 ACO Grant

The COVID-19 Aboriginal Community Organisation Grant Program was funded from the NSW Government 20-21 Budget with $1.3m allocated to stimulate the economy for Aboriginal Community Organisations (ACOs), and the services available to local Aboriginal communities impacted by the pandemic. The interest in the grant exceeded expectations, with more requests than there was funding. Aboriginal Affairs NSW contributed an additional $101,879 to support more ACOs successful applications to be funded.

The grant opened on the 22 February 21 and closed on the 21 May 2021.
