Blue Mountains Walkabout The Blue Mountains Walkabout is independently owned and operated by Evan Yanna Maru a Darug man who is a fully accredited wilderness guide. Evan has previously worked as an Aboriginal Discovery Ranger for the Blue Mountains National Park.

Euraba Paper Company Euraba Paper Company is the first indigenous business in Australia to make elite, handmade paper at a production level. Euraba’s enterprise involves handmade locally and traditionally sourced fibres made into sheets of paper and paper products.

Festivals Australia Funds are available from the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts to assist festival organisers to present specific cultural projects which will add to the cultural program at the festival, or enhance the projection of the local community’s cultural image.

Infokoori “Infokoori is an index to the Koori Mail, a national fortnightly newspaper published in Lismore NSW, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from May 1991 onwards. It also indexes biographical information on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from the magazines: Our Aim (1907-1961), Dawn (1952-1969), New Dawn (1970-1975) and Identity (1971-1982). The indexing of the Koori Mail includes references to every article, letter, review and positions vacant advertisements. Significant advertisements such as Native Title Tribunal notices, public notices and photographs are also indexed. Note that access to articles over the internet is not offered.”

Researching your family history People researching their family history can apply to view the records of the Aborigines Protection and Welfare Boards held at State Records. The Board also took many photographs. You do not need permission to view the photographs, however if you wish to reproduce or copy a photo, you will need to apply through the DAA.

Aboriginal Heritage Projects The Heritage Incentives Program consists of these eight programs:

Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) The Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) is an Australian Government statutory authority that assists Indigenous people to acquire land and to manage Indigenous-held land throughout Australia.The ILC has a seven member board, which is appointed by the Minister for Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs. The Chairperson and at least four other members must be Indigenous.The Board makes all policy and land purchase decisions.

Indigenous.gov.au The whole-of-government website http://www.indigenous.gov.au provides a range of information on government initiatives and Closing the Gap, together with human interest stories told from the perspective of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities from all states and territories. It also has links to all State Government Indigenous affairs departments and agencies.

NSW Heritage Office: The State Heritage Register & the Aboriginal Heritage An introduction from the NSW Heritage Office to heritage and the Stare Heritage Register. You can also nominate an Aboriginal item for listing on the Register.

National Library of Australia: Community Heritage Grants To assist Australian community organisations such as libraries and historical societies, museums, multicultural, ethnic and indigenous groups to preserve significant documentary heritage collections.


Housing

Aboriginal Hostels Limited AHL provides temporary hostel accommodation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who for various reasons are unable to access appropriate shelter. The company provides for that need through its many hostels, each providing affordable accommodation along with much needed cultural support and understanding from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff who almost exclusively operate hostels.Over the years the company has responded to emerging needs and has established a number of hostels other than transient, to provide more specialist accommodation for students, the elderly, people under medical care and those undergoing various types of rehabilitation.
